1. Remember: all mics are on, all cameras are rolling, all the time. The event may have started, whether you realize it or not, long before you come forward to make your formal comments to the audience, media or shareholders. And the event doesn't end when you finish. Your off-the-cuff remarks, the look on your face ( bored, hysterical, angry, or any emotion that is inappropriate to the moment ) can be captured at any time, even if the cameras and the lights seem to be focusing elsewhere.

2. If you've got something important to say, make sure that key message is no longer than 10 seconds. But first: practise, practise, practise.

3. Ask three other people in your company to independently write down four words to describe your company's brand. Compare the results. Are they close? Are they even in the same ballpark? Town? Province?
