![]() Insider Tips - 5 1. When giving a major presentation involving speeches and a fabulous video, give the speeches first. If you speak after the video, you'll have to learn how to spell "anti-climactic" for your follow-up report to the board. 2. It may be pedantic on our part, but let's face it - people make announcements, not companies. When you're having a press release done, someone, not something, gets to take the credit, good or bad, on behalf of the organization. 3. Acknowledge everyone present at business functions in the boardroom, but equally important is acknowledging people you meet at business functions which double as social outings. In fact, make a real effort to remember names, but if you just can't, or you're stymied, come clean in as friendly and relaxed a manner as you can muster. Admit that you're terrible with names or the name is on the tip of your tongue but you're sorry, it's just not coming to you. Remember - it happens to everyone. The other alternative is to ignore people and hurry past them, which can boomerang in the future in all sorts of ways.
