Davidson Communications has worked in the Canadian television broadcasting, film and music industries on a wide variety of campaigns, including company and network launches, corporate communications, program publicity, live concert presentations, and major event planning and implementation. We also have experience with the non- profit sector, including arms-length arts agencies.


Here's a couple of examples of creative problem-solving:


1. THE SITUATION: A broadcaster needs, and wants, to spend dollars to support the independent film and television production industry.

THE SOLUTION: The creation and promotion of an independent, national, non-profit foundation to financially nurture original Canadian movies, in English and in French. The broadcaster holds one seat on the board; the other board directors are all working in various sectors of independent production. The broadcaster spends the money it needs to spend, via the foundation, while building close relationships and garnering valuable advice from the foundation's board of directors.

KEY RESULTS: Higher profile and increased respect for the broadcaster within the industry and the government, at virtually no more cost than what was already budgeted for expenditure.


2. THE SITUATION: Seasonal marketing campaigns for a major broadcaster need linkage, and both the budget and the corporate culture dictates guerrilla tactics that'll hit the right demo at a reasonable cost.

THE SOLUTION: Take one of the broadcaster's existing on-air shows, profiling movie news and star interviews, and pare it down to a two-minute segment. Find a major airline and give the program to it for free, for use as in-flight entertainment.

KEY RESULTS: More than 250,000 airline passengers, on both domestic and international flights, hear and see the show, netting an enormous number of impressions every month for the broadcaster. The cost is virtually negligible.

Both examples are simple and inexpensive to implement and both delivered huge exposure and recognition. How did the strategies start out? As Davidson's really good ideas!
